As always - Ultimate version is so expensive. Of course OEM versions are cheap but these are only for 1 computer (after changing some important components in your computer you must buy a new OS).

Well nobody is in any place to say what MS should charge

too expensive. will stick with my xp for now. Or when I get a new notebook next year (a quad) it will be bundled with it as part of the package, so no rush.
Ultimate is almost the cost of a laptop with XP pre installed
but if any of you have MSDN Premium account, you are freely to use it
Tried Beeta
Posh but expensive !
Wait a bit more with XPSP3
its really expensive compear the rest " i mean ultimate"

$319 - normal price for Windows 7 Ultimate. E.g.: Photoshop (image editor only) costs nearly $800

Microsoft has so many versions I wonder if we can legitimately get a student's edition...
Yeah, wish I had jumpped on board with the $50 Windows 7 when I had the chance. *sigh*. So expensive.

can't really imagine why there's such a huge price gap between the home premium and the ultimate version...

ms says these are the differences:
- Recover your data easily with automatic backup to your home and business network.
- Help protect your data on your PC and portable storage devices against loss or theft with BitLocker.
- Work in the language of your choice or switch between any of thirty-five languages.

Some computers with Vista come with the free upgrade to Windows 7

Same argument could be said about the OS in 2011.
I upgraded from 98 to XP. I skipped Vista so I'll pry do Win7, then skip the next one.
I am using W7 since RC stage. Now using RTM. It is really good and stable one compare to Vista.
In my experience I used
XP: which is still using good,
Vista: installed and used less than a month, system performance is bad stopped using
W7: Used RC version then now using RTM,
I think W7 will be in the market for another few years like XP

yes it is expansive of course but we have no real alternative i think. linux is nice no question but what should a web designer do without photoshop and such windows software. sad but you have to stick with it.
toooo much
waiting chrome os
some student versions are available for $30 and free too.
It costs money because they hire people and they pay them..Companies need to make money to pay salaries and maintain their business..and dominate the world. lol :mobile:

Microsoft is becoming too greedy. The price they are asking for windows 7 unltimate is just too much.
