It is really interesting what will really happen after windows 7 break out to the market. There seems there a lot of rumors that the price tag will be high and is certain that companies won't swith overnight to Windows 7 unless MS makes a really good deal for replacing XP.

Well you're going to have the XP holdouts of course, myself included. It's not going anywhere, supposedly they'll keep up with the security updates till 2014, and there's even a Windows 7 to XP downgrade policy already from Microsoft for new systems. My system runs Vista and 7 just fine... I just don't like them. The only thing I miss from them is DWM, but that's purely eye-candy, I'll get over it. That aside, meh. No compelling reasons to upgrade. 7 feels even more dumbed-down for my tastes... if you like Vista though you'll love 7, they really did a nice job improving it.

You're also going to have the corporate/IT types too. XP has a proven track record, whereas Vista has been perpetually bad-mouthed, even though that's not really deserved anymore; Vista is 1000% better than it was when it first went RTM. Windows 7 isn't even released yet, seriously doubt any professional IT type will suggest upgrading to something that has a zero track record.

AS far as business goes, Windows XP will still rule, simply because everyone is proficient with it, and it doesnt give the headaches of vista.
7 is very nice to use, but for business I would stick to XP due to lower system requirements.

i think on administartive pc's it will remain as main os, but has a good chance (for the future) network admins will change the wok user desktop pc's os' to 7.

Why doesn't Microsoft try to develop it's geat os Windows XP instead of creating a new os from 0 point . That means we'll be running after microsoft in it's long and hard developing journey during the next 5 or more years to make the windows7/8 whatever stable ? Vista ocuppies 8 times the space of xp ( I think about 8 gb ) and the final result is : The same options , same procedures and same words , except some new features that doesn't deserve all this space , that means more problems and bugs making my pc very slow in every thing and facing security threats and more ...

sorry for my bad english

frankly there's little reason to go from xp to 7. I mean really....even the benchmarks say that xp is ahead in many cases. I don't need another hardware headache with 7 like i had with vista. Hell even windows 2k is still good. Albeit not supported.

Windows XP does increase reliability when compared to previous versions of Microsoft Windows.

Although the look of Windows 7 may seem to be nothing more than some polish applied liberally to the Vista Aero theme, make no mistake.

This is a full replacement operating system, and more than just "Vista done right."

From driver support to multitouch groundwork for the future, from better battery management to the most user-friendly interface Microsoft has ever had, Windows 7 is hardly half-baked.

Let us watch, what we will write next time with review of next edition !

FYI. the codename of Windows 8 is 'Midori'. A japanese word that is quite popular for naming girls. But the word in itself means the color 'green'.... So even Microsoft is going green :-d

ppl also compare winXP and 7. heh,for me, I prefer to use 7. But you know WinXP is being there for more than 8 years since year 2001. There already have lots of well-grow software, hardware, and etc working with this system. And also, ppl are using this system for years. They are experienced of this system. So you should give time to them for transfering to the new system.
Talking about 8, it likes a long dream right now. But I like it!

Have several OS including Unix, Lin, DOS, Win (All versions) even have some mac operating systems. Problem is that once you update you need to update not only you OS but the software your running. Of course this is not a problem inless the software is very expensive. Lots of Hype over Win7 however there are only a couple of things that truly stand out and to be honest graphis is not one of them. <Hmm I have no use for it>

windows 7 is definitely not vista improved. where u get that from? Almost everything was rewritten from ground up in win 7. if you use the two for serious work u will see that they are totally different.

From and end-user standpoint, yes they're quite different in how the interface behaves. But under the hood, it's still Windows 6.1; it's not a complete rewrite of the guts. They really could have called it SP3, but they threw it so many UI changes why not squeeze in some extra cash out of it.

By far Windows 7 is much better then Vista. Or even XP for that matter. I hade Vista for 2 years granted it improved but still didnt hit the spot that I wanted or needed. I hade the Windows vista Ultimate 64 bit. I went off and got the full version of Windows 7 Pro. Ya it cost me alot of money but well worth it so I did a clean install of Windows 7 and I am loving it. :D

Windows 7 is not a revolutionary improvement over Vista, but a great usability improvement over Vista and XP. Where Vista got in the way, Win 7 gets out of the way. It still shares most of the code base with Vista, but the user interface is much improved and it seems rock steady. It's probably what Vista should have been.

I really like it and I think once people start using it, they would not want to go back to using XP. In fact there is a XP mode that creates an actual virtual XP machine so you can run XP drivers in it for those peripherals that do not have Vista/Win 7 drivers. If one was hesitating before, now is the time to change. MS got it right with Win 7.
